Sticking with the old vinyl compilations.
Here's Rock 80 from...1980.
A right mixed bag this one.
Seemingly there were a few of these albums
and this one is the Canadian version.
That's why there's some Canadian bands represented.
Released on the good old K-Tel Label.
Right mixed bag indeed. Not only the artist lineup, but some of the song selections too. I was expecting "Patio Lanterns" from Max Webster, and "Lunatic Fringe" from Red Rider. And the Babys' "Back On My Feet" is actually from 1979. But isn't that the beauty of K-Tel?
ReplyDeleteI had this when I was a kid! Loved this album! It came out when I was 9 years old. Been looking for a copy on vinyl for a while now. Glad to be able to get it again. However, this version is in MONO. Whoever recorded it had the settings wrong while ripping. Listen to My Sharona and there's no guitar solo. Only the right channel recorded and it recorded in both left & right. I had this same issue while using Audacity making vinyl rips and it drove me nuts. Finally went to their forum and got some help and problem fixed. I can't remember exactly what the setting is but it's in sound and "enhanced" needs to be disabled. Anyway thanks for posting! I'm okay with a mono version for now!
ReplyDeleteOdd, mine had a completely different track listing. The US version is almost completely different. It has The Ramones, Blondie, Nick Lowe, Sniff N The Tears, Joe Jackson and Gary Numan. - StyMan
