I'm Gonna Fly Like An Eagle...

This one really takes me back in time.
Some excellent BBC soundboard recordingss of
Stray a British Blues Rock band in 1973 and 1974.
A band tipped by the weekly music papers ( Sounds,Melody Maker, etc )
at the time to be on the verge of bigger things.
Unfortunately as with many of these early 70s bands
a series of circumstances and bad management
prevented it from happening.
I saw Stray live four times during this period
and they were a really great live band.
Stray led by guitarist Del Bromham
continue to perform and record  new music to this day.

A big thanks once again to Steve for sending in the shows.

  5. Stray were a great band, their 1st 3 LPs are as good as anything that came out of that period. Unfortunately by the time these sessions were recorded their style had begun to change somewhat & the material wasn't quite as consistently good as in their heyday. They still delivered brilliantly live though, as anyone who saw them supporting KISS on their very 1st UK tour will attest.
Great to have this vintage Stray material to enjoy as a long-time devotee, but the uninitiated should probably begin with the Stray, Suicide & Saturday Morning Pictures LPs to hear them right at the peak of their powers.

I just wish there was a full live concert of the band in 1973

    1. I think the closest thing to your wish might be the BBC 'In Concert' radio show from 1972 which featured both Stray & Barclay James Harvest performing live (likely from the beeb's own Paris Theatre). Both band's apparently played half hour sets, though i've yet to find a recording of this show. If i do happen across it i'll be sure to share it here.
