Here's an excellent sounding soundboard of the
Paul Chapman Project in Chicago 2009.
A setlist full of UFO songs.
With Paul's guitar the star of the show.
I Don't have any info on the band members
if you're a UFO Chapman era fan you'll enjoy this one.
Tonka was a hugely underrated guitar player. I loved his work with UFO of course, but he also made some amazing music in Lone Star, Waysted, Ghost & Gator Country. Apparently as a youngster he replaced Gary Moore in Skid Row, i would love to hear any recordings that might exist of that.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree 100% thanks anonymous
DeleteIt's a decent recording from the period when PC was trying to release an album of re-recorded UFO songs with revised solos and arrangements (due to a further 25 years more musical experience after leaving UFO). Rob McAuley from MSG was the singer on a couple of tracks.
ReplyDeleteThe PCP band here sound more like his usual pick-up covers band, they're introduced just before 'Doctor Doctor'
Thanks for the interesting comment I didn't know about Robin McCauley being involved
DeleteThank you ! Nice setlist indeed and decent sound quality. Not fond of the singer's voice. It doesn't make it for me.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Paris
That re-recording project sounds interesting, was it ever completed? Hard to imagine how Paul might have 'improved' on something like 'Profession Of Violence' (perhaps the high water mark in his UFO recordings), but as you say, with a quarter century more playing under his belt it could at least have been a fascinating listen.
ReplyDeleteI believe it was completed, but is stuck in a vault somewhere. There's an old article about it here:

I have another Paul Chapman-plays-UFO recording from 2007 which I can send in if UFO Steve doesn't have it already.
The only other Paul Chapman I have is from Elmhurst in 2007
ReplyDeleteNice one, Paul was my favourite UFO guitarist!
ReplyDeleteSnap! - Same here - a much more enjoyable show, seems like the 2007 band were having a good time. I'll keep trawling through my hard drives for something you haven't shared yet - perhaps some MSG...
