The ultimate party band here with Rod and the Faces.
From San Bernardino,Cali,back in '76.
Although they liked a good time they certainly
could play.As we know Rod outgrew the band and
did alright as a solo artist.
Fine setlist with a few covers thrown in showing
their influences.
Stay tuned cos there's plenty good stuff
on the back burner coming up over the
next few days and weeks.

Thank you for this one. Great sound quality on this one. Burning to CDr right away !!!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Paris,
According to some sources, this concert is from Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino on March 7, 1975. As per Gemini, this specific show is legendary among collectors because it was professionally recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio broadcast. Because it was a soundboard recording, the audio quality is superb, leading to it being pressed on numerous bootlegs over the decades.
ReplyDeleteWhatever, a great record to add to your collection. Don't miss it !
Thank you! But it's interesting that the zip file is called 'Rod Faces Detroit 1974 SMD.' The artwork is for San Bern, and the songs match though. ...just making sure the show date is correct. Thanks so much again, G.
ReplyDeleteYeah when I ripped it that was the title that appeared.
DeleteDidn't really notice...lol.
I've several versions of this show, and wondered when and where it was recorded. The late '74 and early '75 concerts had similar setlist, but my conclusion is that this is from Cobo Hall, Detroit on 27 November 1974.
ReplyDelete[The Swing Auditorium tracks on the 'Five Guys...' box set were recorded from the audience, and it would seem strange for an official release to use a bootleg source if there was a King Biscuit recording of the same performance]
A great show to have.
