The Calliope Crashed to the Ground...

I've Been Re-Discoverin' This Band!

Manfred Mann's Earth Band!

I'd Forgotten Just How Good They Were!

They Had a Sound Along the Lines of Kansas...

'Course They Had a Big Hit with Bruce's
Blinded By The Light!

But There Was a Lot More to Them Than That!

Plus, Without Some Creative Editin'
I Personally
Don't Believe
That Would Have Been a Huge Hit!

Nor Would Kansas' Carry On...
OR
Golden Earring's Radar Love...

I Love The Album Versions
BUT ALL 3
Are Much Different (And Longer)
Than
What was Played on The Radio!

Anyway, Here's a Great Concert by

What Could Have Been Called
"Arm Band" or "Head Band"

IF NOT For
Drummer Chris Slade's
Suggestion

  1. Nice one Rocket, love MMEB. IMHO the latter versions of the band are even better. Mick Rodgers is a vastly underrated guitarist - MANN ALIVE is a cracking CD - whilst Noel McCalla (since replaced by Brian Howe once of Bad Co, I believe) was excellent too with them. Cheers. Davy (still on the road!)

  2. Thanks to bring up that one. I have fond memories of bringing Mrs. Derek to her first concert with me to see Manfred Mann and Procol Harum. She loved so much MMEB that she wrote a poem about it and published it in one of her poetry books. Story should be told to Manfred Mann that he's the subject of a poem by the famous Mrs. Derek. :)

  3. Back cover wrong. Song no.9 should be no 1
