Not a band I'm overly familiar with but by all accounts
one of Canada's finest.
And they did play the very first Monsters Of Rock at
Donington Park back in 1980.
Now called Download.
I did pick up their
"Live At The El Mocambo" LP a while ago
but that's in my ever growing pile of,not listened to yet albums.
Anyway here's an FM Broadcast from1981.

I was at this show. It was broadcast live and Jerry Mercer's birthday. They blew the roof of the Aladdin Theatre that night. Thank you for bringing back some cherished memories!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Thanks for this. I love the work put in on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you; gotta love the artwork~!
ReplyDeleteI've only really got into April Wine over the last 5 years or so despite being aware of them for decades. They're one of those bands who have so much quality in their back catalogue across a lot of musical styles, but their hits barely hinted at what was hiding on those LPs, particularly the '70's records.
ReplyDeleteFor my money their 2 best & most cohesive LPs are 'First Glance' & 'Electric Jewels', both all-killer-no-filler listens, but anyone prepared to put the time in will find great songs tucked away on every single record. (Apart from 'Forever for Now', that LP's a straight up stinker, the only truly duff entry in their back catalogue. Avoid.)
