Thank you, Rick for another fine spate of posts. The 1980 shows were quite messy affairs. I've always believed ripping through "Train" standing on the wah-wah pedal the whole way was Jimmy's reply to the punks and their noisy-fast-crude ethos. Only he knows what his intent was, but regardless the shows from this tour have always been a tougher listen for me than other tours.
I lost no love for the band at all, it was just a different trek for them and a different way to present themselves live. Similar to the Stones stripping away the horns and backup singers in '81-82. I actually appreciate it when bands to different things with the music live (Bob Dylan), that's what the live experience is for in my opinion. Thanks again.
