Excellent performance from GFR back in 1972.
Broadcast in '73 on ABC In Concert.
Sounds like a great place to be at the time.
Blow Your (TV) Speakers!!
(So the front cover had a pic of MC5 rather than GFR,
strangely, luckily spotted by one of our visitors.
So I've updated it with a rare shot of
Mark Farner with his top off!!)

MC5 photo on the cover!??
ReplyDeleteAs well as the MC5 mistake, the cover also attibutes the writing of 'Ain't No Sunshine' & 'Goin' Down' to Freddie King when they were actually penned by Bill Withers & Moloch respectively.
ReplyDeleteI'm done with this cover...lol

ReplyDeleteRick, another great post - many thanks!
ReplyDeletethanx
ReplyDeleteThanks - great post!
ReplyDeleteBill Withers did write "Ain't No Sunshine". Moloch was the first artist to release "Going Down", but it was written by Don Nix.
ReplyDeleteBoth Moloch and Don Nix were from the Memphis, TN area.

As a follow-up...
DeleteI should have listened to the Tracks 6 & 7 prior to commenting on them. The reason Freddie King is listed is on the back cover is because he was the performer of these tracks. It has nothing to do with the writing credit for these tracks.
Thanks!

Yeah, Nix was in the band Moloch at the time of their only LP, hence why they were the 1st to record the song.
