Funny...I'm in the other camp. I always viewed Thundersteel as a true metal masterpiece from start to finish, and up there with Mindcrime as the best metal releases of 1988. Essentially a new band with a new sound, but one that really reinvigorated the Riot name and served as an intro to a number of stellar 90 - 00's metal releases from them. Sort of like how Savatage changed around the same time...originally a meat & potatoes metal band, then a (near total) revamped lineup that turned out a series of great melodic/prog metal opuses.

ReplyDeleteRiot... Never listened to.. Never noticed them. So why not give them a listen... Not bad in fact. And oops... What this in my music room a double CD+DVD from Riot Live in Japan 2018 ? Unsealed ? When did I buy this one and never even listened to it.
