Thanks for the post, Smoker. The Sons are a fave of mine too, because they take their 70s inspiration and update it. Unlike most retro bands who just seem to be ticking off boxes:
1. Wild front man singer with lots of tattoos - check! 2. Lead guitarist plays a Les Paul and does lots of Joe Perry moves - check! 3. Drummer flails exaggeratedly like Keith Moon - check! 4. Bassist does high kicks to show that bassists are rockers too - check! 5. We wear bell bottom jeans and pretend it's 1974 - check!
Unlike that, Rival Sons are all four are superb players, the band writes strong original songs, and vocalist Jay Buchanan can belt a song as strongly as anybody. And they dress like it's 2022. Because it is. Nothing not to love in my opinion, and they kill it live.
