This one is up already but this would appear to be
the full concert.
From classic 70's Rockers,Angel.
Live in Fresno '78.
It's an enjoyable audience recording.
A great band with an interesting sound.
Proggy,Hard & Melodic Rock.
I thought their image was pretty cool too.
Thanks for reminding me of this one, Smoker. Indeed there are no soundboard recordings available from this band, except for a 3 song KBFH record which includes their epic The Fortune.
ReplyDeleteYeah Derek not a lot available for these guys.
DeleteWhich is a pity.
I saw a post on Facebook that Angel is doing a fairwell tour in '26-'27, with special guest Starz. Hopefully, Derek, you can get to see one of their concerts!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem odd that so little live vintage Angel is around. They were a band who toured consistently (and at quite a high level) for several years so you'd expect that KBFH, Westwood One or similar radio networks would have preserved more than is out there. I don't even recall seeing any leaked SBD tapes on my travels.
ReplyDeleteWhen you compare them to bands like Starz or Molly Hatchet, who existed around the same time & sold similar amounts of records, both are far more widely represented in bootleg land. There must be reasons why Angel weren't recorded or broadcast more but i'm at a complete loss to understand what they might be.
On a related (but only barely) note, are there any live recordings out there by Billy Squier's late 70's band Piper? I've been enjoying the recent CD re-release of their debut lately & it occurs to me that they might well have had a concert or 2 broadcast on radio back in the day though i don't recall ever seeing any boots of them around.
