Atom Heart Mother, Obscured by Clouds, Meddle. I'm a huge Floyd fan, love it all (the earlier more than the later, I'll admit. Those three albums are right before Dark, and full of great stuff. You've probably heard, perhaps, but if not, you probably should. They consider AHM to be one of their worst. I think it's one of their best. Same for Rush though, they hate Caress, I love it. It's a trend. Maybe I'm just being difficult....
ReplyDeleteLike the Alice Cooper period you mentioned on an earlier post, those are some of my favorite Coopers. Special Forces was deleted almost as soon as it came out. Bought it at a Becker's for 2 bucks. Friggin' killer album. Almost went back to give them more money. Didn't, of course, they made their choices. Anyway, his dark and witty & ironic sense of humour is on full display on these albums. Flush, Zipper, DaDa & SF. Tried to reinvent himself, got shot down, too bad, like you said: the mess worked. Oh well, back to makeup 'n' snakes, still going strong.
