The Late Alan Merrill

Rick was Promotin' His Good Dirty Fun Record!
High Energy Rock & Roll!
At Its Finest!!!!
I was friends with Alan Merrill & interviewed him for a number of magazines. It was me who first got the story into print re how he was the sole writer of I Love R'n'R and how he gave away 50% of the writing royalties to Arrows bandmate Jake Hooker in return for paying an air fare to UK from Japan. The worlds costliest airline ticket as royalties are estimated in the $15 million plus region! Anyway, the point of this ramble is that when Alan was told to write a catchy R'n'R anthem, his first take at it was 'Shake Me', which was later covered by Rick Derringer and is on this album. It was rejected by Mickie Most at RAK records who suggested he try again - and the result was the legendary anthem we all know.
