See The Lightning Before You Hear The Thunder...

Here's a solo album from Rob Grill
of  previously posted band,
The Grass Roots.
From 1979,out of print.
Featuring members of Fleetwood Mac
it's almost a lost Mac album.
Highly recommended by friend of the site...
Derek (from Paris).

  1. "Almost a lost Mac album"? Talk about hyperbole, it's not even close to being that. The 3 Mac members (Buckingham, McVie & Fleetwood) only appear on one song (Rock Sugar).
It's a decent little AOR/Classic Rock album in it's own right though, with nice guitarwork throughout from Steve Hunter (Alice Cooper/Lou Reed etc.)
Weirdly, since this was ostensibly Grill's solo album, he only had co-writng credits on 2 songs here, with the majority written by his Grass Roots bandmate Dennis Provisor (also ex-The Hook).
Grill had a versatile voice, capable of throaty rabble rousing in that raspy Rod Stewart mould, but he also had a sweeter tone on the more mellow material too.

  2. Agree, but Stevie Nicks does also the backing vocals on Rock Sugar and maybe a litlle more on other songs. She was not allowed to be credited. Still, to cut a long story short, a very nice LP in my humble opinion. I'm playing it frequently.
