Here's a Great Frankie Miller Concert from the Mid 80's!
Frankie and His Band played Parkpop, a Big Festival in The Netherlands, in the Summer of 1986, and it was captured on the Radio! (Probably that Radio Veronica?)
For those of You that Don't Think You've Heard Frankie - Well You Probably Have! Tons of Musicians have Covered Songs He Has Written: Like Ain't Got No Money by Bob Seger, or the Country Hit I'd Lie to You For Your Love by The Bellamy Brothers (But Frankie Does the Rock Version Here!), or the song that Starts This Concert: A Fool In Love which was Covered by UFO... And The List Goes On and On! Plus his songs have been used in Countless Movies like All The Right Moves and Light of Day!
Frankie also Sang the Duet with Phil Lynott on Thin Lizzy's Still In Love With You from the Nightlife album...
He was such a Gifted Songwriter and Singer Until 1994, when he suffered a Brain Hemorrhage that left him in a coma for 5 months, after which he was unable to speak. He has been through extensive rehabilitation and is doing better, but is still unable to perform anymore! There's a BBC Documentary about Frankie called Stubborn Kinda Fellow that's well worth trackin' down and watchin'.
As Great a Songwriter as he was, he still covered other's songs as well - like with this show - You'll recognize the old Temptations song Shakey Ground...
When Frankie talks he has a Scottish Accent, But When He Sings - Man What a Voice: Soulful as they come!
The ONLY Thing about this Concert You'll be Disappointed in is the Last Song - It Fades out After only a Couple Minutes!
Enjoy and Play It LOUD!

Didn't Rod Stewart say Frankie was the only white singer that could make him cry? He was that good.
ReplyDeleteYep. Rod Did Indeed Say That!
DeleteThanks for this one !
ReplyDeleteAnd have a nice peaceful Sunday.
Thank you Rocket! I'll be jamming this one all night long. Love Frankie's music. It was reading the credits for Bob Seger's Stranger In Town album that I heard of Frankie. I started looking for his records and have been a fan since. This makes my 2nd Frankie Miller show and both came from you! You Rock!

Rocket, I didn't know about the documentary, just watched it(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI24jV1AxwE). Good stuff (Loved the part where Rod says he received a tape with Frankies' demos on, he chose one - and reckons it wasn't as good as Frankies' demo!!). The Rock is a great LP IMHO. Some things just don't seem right, eh? What a singer Frankie was, and this boot is a great show. Looking forward to some more Miller time!! Cheers DD
ReplyDeleteYeah, It's a Great Doc...Thanks for Puttin' a LINK! DD

Frankie was definitely Somethin' Else!
